Celebrating Women in Aviation and Space Medicine
This year’s Royal Aeronautical Society Aerospace Medicine Symposium will be run on the theme of ‘Celebrating Women in Aviation and Space Medicine’. This event is in support of the broader Society work to encourage and support women in aerospace including the RAeS Alta Mentoring Scheme.
The day will include a range of female speakers from civilian and military roles at different career stages who will talk about their experiences and work across the breadth of aviation and space medicine practice.
Topics to be covered will include:
- Clinical work of flight surgeons
- Primary care and hospital specialists
- Aeromedical evacuation and retrieval work
- Female health
- Human systems integration
- Life support systems
- Medical careers
- Development and leadership
The afternoon will also include the annual Next Generation Aerospace Medicine presentation competition. This competition is open to all undergraduate or postgraduate students, those on an established training programme or professionals from allied professions in an early stage in their career.
This event will be suitable for anyone currently working in or looking to enter a career within medicine within the aviation and aerospace industry. Unlike other industry events, this one is suitable for both military and civil professionals and both sectors will be able to take learnings from the day to apply to their current or future roles.
The Symposium is in support of women within the industry, however, this event is open for both men and women and we would strongly encourage those interested in the topic and content to attend this educational and encouraging day.
